Giovanni received his PhD at the University of Zurich and worked as a postdoc in Marseille before coming to Vienna with an SNF mobility fellowship. Among his research interests are the BV-BFV formalism, its application to quantum gravity, and related topics in mathematical physics. During his stay in Vienna he intends to explore the relation of stratifications in 3-dimensional gravity to topological field theories with Nils Carqueville.
